Cha Jun-hwan wins the 4 Continents Championships… First Korean male single ‘successful achievement’

Cha Jun-hwan of men’s figure skating became the first Korean athlete to win a gold medal in a single at the Four Continents Championships.

Jun-hwan Cha, who took first place in the short program, fell in the process of landing the quadruple toe loop jump, the first task of free skating, and started uneasy, but following that, he accumulated points by neatly handling the quadruple salcho and triple lutz-triple loop combination jump.

Jun-hwan Cha, who finished stably with the rest of the performance, received the highest score among 17 players with 174.26 points, and climbed to the top with a personal best of 273.22 points in the short and free totals.

Cha Jun-hwan hung the gold medal around his neck at the top of the podium, and the national anthem was sung.

It is the first Korean male singles win and the first medal to win at the Four Continents Championships held since 1999.

Although top athletes such as Nathan Chen of the United States and Yuzuru Hanyu of Japan did not participate in this competition, Cha Jun-hwan rose to the top with a high-quality performance and predicted a good performance at the Beijing Olympics next month.
