massive recall of products throughout France, they can be dangerous for your health, it is about ham

Large retailers are once once more hit by a very, very large-scale product recall! It is an everyday consumer product, very popular with children and adults alike. Unfortunately, this one is potentially infected with listeria, and can even be fatal if ingested. Don’t eat it at all! The Objeko team gives you all the details in this article.

Product recall: a busy season

Product recalls occur throughout the year. Indeed, it is not uncommon to see these small signs in our supermarkets, asking us to please bring back this or that product. The reasons are very often the same. Most of the time, it is a simple labeling problem: allergenic ingredient missing from the list of ingredients, bad marking of the expiry date…

More seriously, some product recalls are made because of contamination during production: presence of glass, metal, or plastic in the product, or infestation of microbes or viruses. In this second case, the consequences can be very serious for the health of a large number of consumers! Supermarket brands and manufacturers are doing everything to get the message across clearly and to as many people as possible.

However, there are times when product recalls are more numerous: national holidays. Indeed, when it comes to Christmas, for example, the food needs of the French are much greater. Food production plants are running at full speed, and errors are more frequent. Even though we are already well into January, factories are still slowly recovering from their excess production, which is still causing a large number of errors and product recalls.

Product recall on cooked ham

It’s panic in the supermarkets! A very popular product has just been the subject of a product recall, and this may not please many families. Indeed, it is a batch of raw ham that might potentially be contaminated with Listeria! This is sold under two names of the Brocéliande brand: superior cooked ham made without nitrite four slices 200 g and superior cooked ham torchon without antibiotics from birth six slices 300 g. The batches concerned are batches 01042180 and 01043738 bearing the barcode 3700133916298, as well as batches 01042051, 01043321 and 01045204, with the barcode 3700133913563. The expiry dates range from 01/26/2022 to 02/04/2022. 2022.

The Brocéliande cooked ham that is the subject of a product recall is sold in most supermarkets, including Auchan, Intermarché, Leclerc, or Casino. Despite the supposedly superior quality of its products, it seems that an error in the production chain has created a real public health problem. If you have one of his packs of cured ham, bring it back to your nearest store without delay for a refund!

Listeriosis: a very serious disease!

If this cooked ham sold in supermarkets is the subject of a massive product recall, it is not for nothing! Listeriosis, a disease caused by the bacterium listeria monocytogene, is the most serious. It is even fatal in 40 to 60% of cases! In adult humans, listeriosis can cause sepsis and death. Elderly or immunocompromised people are even more susceptible to the disease. In pregnant women, the disease develops especially around the future child, and can cause premature delivery or abortion. This is also why certain foods are generally prohibited for future mothers.

The listeria bacterium is present in large quantities in soils, and in meat. This is why it is important to cook your meat well, especially pork. The high temperature kills the bacteria, which then becomes harmless.

This product recall is therefore very important. If you live with children or people at risk, check all your packaging carefully! If you have any doubts, do not hesitate to consult a doctor. Listeriosis can take up to 8 weeks before symptoms appear. So take all the necessary precautions!
