The NFL playoffs have tradition!
In the NFL, the 14 best teams in the league compete once morest each other following the regular season. In a knockout system, the teams play to participate in the Super Bowl. This qualification system has existed since 1967. At that time, the NFL consisted of 16 teams divided into four divisions. Just like today, the league was split into two major conferences. The AFC and the NFC (American Football Conference and National Football Conference). And even though the league has doubled in size, the basic playoff concept still exists today.
