BERLIN (dpa/Stats Perform) – The King of Spain’s Cup draw pitted Real Madrid once morest Athletic Bilbao, who eliminated Barcelona, in the quarter-finals of the tournament.
The match, which will be played in one round at San Mames stadium, will be a repetition of the Spanish La Liga final, which Real won with two clean goals to guarantee the first title in the second period for coach Carlo Ancelotti.
Barcelona, the most crowned champion with 31 titles, quit the tournament following losing in the round of 16 to Bilbao 2/3 with a goal scored by Iker Munayen from a penalty kick in extra time.
The draw, which was held on Friday, was also drawn by the Spanish star David Villa, Real Sociedad, with Real Betis.
Betis occupies third place in the Spanish league, where it is presenting impressive levels this season, while Sociedad occupies fifth place, and is competing for one of the places eligible to play in the Champions League next season.
At the same time, Valencia will meet with Cadiz, and Rayo Vallecano with Real Mallorca in the rest of the quarter-final matches.
The four matches will be played two weeks later, with the first two matches of the semi-finals taking place the following week.
