This is one of the new frontiers of tech, and therefore a priority for Gafa, Facebook and Twitter in mind. The two giants are breaking into the booming NFT market, these non-fungible tokens that certify the authenticity and ownership of digital goods, works of art, video games… and which are exchanged, via platforms like OpenSea, in a global market already weighing 40 billion dollars.
Since Thursday, iPhone users who have subscribed to Twitter’s paid formula can, for example, display their NFTs as a profile picture. This functionality currently concerns four countries: United States, Canada, Australia and New Zealand. But Twitter hopes to evangelize little by little its community of “twittos” to this new technology, while waiting for other initiatives.
