(Export News Incheon Airport, Reporter Han-Jun Kim) Lotte Giants’ new foreign pitcher Charlie Barnes arrived at Incheon International Airport on the followingnoon of the 20th.
Born in 1995, Vans, a left-handed pitcher with a build of 189 cm and 86 kg, was selected by the Minnesota Twins in 2017 and played in major leagues and Triple-A. The club highly praised Vans as a left-handed pitcher, with a fastball with an average speed of around 140 km/h, and being able to freely use changing balls such as sliders and changeups. In particular, he sees his history of consistently playing as a starting pitcher in the minor leagues as well as the major leagues as an advantage.
Barnes played 77 games (75 starts) in the minor leagues, recording 23 wins and 20 losses and a 3.71 ERA. This season, he made his major league debut with the Minnesota Twins and recorded three losses and a 5.92 ERA without winning in nine games (8 starts).
