US President Joe Biden said, on Wednesday, that his administration is looking to reclassify the Houthi militia, an international terrorist organization, following missile and drone attacks on the UAE, while the Emirati embassy in Washington welcomed Biden’s statements on Twitter regarding reconsidering the inclusion of the Houthi militia. on the terrorism list.
President Biden’s announcement came hours following Yousef Al-Otaiba, the Emirati ambassador in Washington, called on the US administration and Congress to support the reclassification of the Houthi militia as a foreign terrorist organization. When Biden was asked if he supported returning the Houthis to the US list of foreign terrorist organizations, he said: The answer is that the matter is under consideration.
The Emirati embassy in Washington welcomed Biden’s statements, and said: The issue is clear – firing ballistic and cruise missiles at civilian targets, continuing the aggression, and diverting the aid course directed to the Yemeni people. The Emirati ambassador presented a summary of the agreement of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces, during a call with US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin, on the need for unified action, in response to the Houthi terrorist attack.
