Close and positive covid contacts: the Government clarified when they can return to work | The guide, case by case

The national government established a series of recommendations on what the return to work of people who have been infected should be like of covid-19 or are close contacts of a confirmed case.

The requirements were published in the Resolution 27/2022 of the Ministry of Labor on the basis of a series of indications prepared at the local and international level, in the framework of the strong resurgence of coronavirus cases due to the omicron variant.

When can a person return to work following being infected?

The regulations say that employees who have been infected and did not require hospitalization may be reincorporated without the need to present a negative test or certificate, in the following circumstances:

  • Those who have not been vaccinated or have an incomplete scheme may return within 10 days of the start date of symptoms.
  • Those who have not been vaccinated or have an incomplete schedule and they were asymptomaticthey can return 10 days following the date of diagnosis.

The confirmed cases with complete vaccination schedule, less than five months following completing the regimen or receiving the booster dose:

  • at 7 days from the date of onset of symptoms (or diagnosis in asymptomatic cases).

Special care is:

  2. Use chinstrap well adjusted, permanently covering the nose, mouth and chin in closed or open environments where there are other people.

What regarding close contacts

Meanwhile, article 3 of the regulations signed by the minister Claudio Moroni further indicates that asymptomatic close contacts They will be able to return to their work activities complying “strictly” with the measures of care and without the need to present a negative test result or discharge certificate, according to the next detail:

  • Asymptomatic close contacts without vaccination or with an incomplete schedule or with more than 5 months of the application of the last dose, will be able to return to their jobs 10 days following the last contact with the confirmed case.
  • Asymptomatic close contacts with a complete vaccination schedule or who have had Covid in the last 90 days, will be able to return to their work activities, following the jurisdiction recommendations in which they live

Match these cases, in general terms they are recommended:

  1. Maximize preventive measures, such as use mandatory chinstrap and environments with permanent cross ventilation.
  2. perform a diagnostic test between the third and fifth day.
  3. perform a symptom self-monitoring on a daily basis.

For their part, to the asymptomatic close contacts with complete vaccination schedule plus the booster dose with more than 14 days from the last application, the following is indicated:

  • Return to your work activities, following the jurisdictional recommendations.
  • Maximize preventive measures, such as the mandatory use of the chinstrap and environments with permanent cross ventilation).
  • Carry out self monitoring of symptoms on a daily basis.
