Banjo-Kazooie, back home on Nintendo Switch Online

With the announcement of Paper Mario para Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack, Nintendo also revealed that the next Nintendo 64 game on the list would be Banjo-Kazooie. The surprise date has finally arrived, because from January 20 you can find Banjo-Kazooie on Nintendo’s online subscription service.

This 1998 Nintendo 64 game features Banjo the bear and Kazooie the bird on a quest to rescue Banjo’s little sister Tooty from the clutches of the witch Gruntilda. Starting from Spiral Mountain, this pair of friends must learn moves by collecting musical notes, Jinjos, and puzzle pieces.

It is a game very much from the second half of the nineties, where the old Rare experimented with 3D technology in a different IP than Donkey Kong. It laid the foundation for 3D platforming for Donkey Kong 64, although the latter went overboard on collectibles. It also had a sequel for Nintendo 64 and an intermediate one for Game Boy Advance, as well as a racing game with airplanes, Banjo Pilot.

In Super Mario Odyssey for Switch you can see many patterns first introduced in Banjo-Kazooie, in turn an answer to Super Mario 64. This is the official return of the first Banjo and Kazooie installment on a Nintendo console in 22 years.

Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack costs $49.99 USD per year per person. However, it is much more practical to opt for the family plan for up to eight users, for $79.99 USD per year. In the Colombia eShop, the Nintendo Switch Online expansion pack costs $219,000 pesos per year per person or $350,400 pesos per year per family (8 people).

If the monthly releases continue, here are the confirmed upcoming Nintendo 64 games for Nintendo Switch Online + Expansion Pack. The order may vary and so can the number of games per month.
