Börse Express – EQUITIES IN FOCUS 2: Online stocks like Zalando and HelloFresh on the ups and downs

(New: Fluctuating prices, Microsoft and Activision)

FRANKFURT (dpa-AFX) – The shares of the online-heavy companies in the Dax are on a rollercoaster ride on Tuesday. Another price slide among the technology stocks depressed the papers of Zalando, Hellofresh and Delivery Hero only clearly in the red. In the followingnoon, however, they recovered with a spin into the plus that only lasted at Zalando. The titles of the online retailer recently rose by 0.9 percent following a morning discount of up to 1.5 percent.

In the followingnoon, the mood in the tech industry had brightened as the US software giant Microsoft submitted a bid worth billions for the computer games manufacturer Activision Blizzard. At the same time, local online values also began to recover temporarily: following a daily minus of up to four percent, Delivery Hero briefly turned positive, but was recently 0.3 percent lower once more. It was similar with HelloFresh: After a discount of 1.8 percent and a later plus of 1.6 percent, they were traded in the red once more at 0.2 percent.

More optimistic analyst voices on Delivery Hero and Zalando had not initially driven the two stocks in the morning. Online stocks like these had generally benefited greatly from the pandemic over the past two years. However, they have recently suffered from skepticism regarding the normalization period – and, along with the entire tech industry, from concerns that rising interest rates might jeopardize growth.

The Irish broker Davy gave Delivery Hero an optimistic vote in the morning with “Outperform”. With a price target of EUR 140, the experts are signaling a recovery potential of 85 percent and a run back towards the previous high of the papers, which was a good EUR 145 at the beginning of 2021. Davy thinks Delivery Hero is a winner in the highly competitive industry.

Meanwhile, Jörg Philipp Frey from Warburg Research spoke out in favor of buying Zalando papers, even if he sees little impetus in the short term. The market is now well prepared for the slowdown in the course of the ending pandemic, which many investors expected from the Omicron wave. With a view to the medium-term goals, Frey sees Zalando on track./tih/bek/stk
