The La Gantoise coach was recently involved in the Footballgate affair. He wanted to react to the allegations that have been circulating regarding him in recent days.
According to several Dutch-language media, Hein Vanhaezebrouck would have illegally received nearly 290,000 euros as well as gardening equipment during his first stint at the head of the Buffalos.
In comments relayed by The last news, the Ghent coach reacted to these allegations, as to his involvement in this affair.
“The insinuations that I received undeclared payments from the players’ agent Mogi Stale are totally false. I was not suspected or questioned for these facts. For the rest, I cooperate fully and transparently with the authorities. I have nothing to hide.”
“I was and am being remunerated very correctly and in accordance with the market by Ghent. The amounts mentioned in the press are simply incorrect and lead to misleading information. Due to the club’s completely exceptional results during the period in question, my employment contracts and the remuneration included therein have even been adapted several times. All tax obligations have been respected in the process”, he justified himself, before adding that he regretted that such information circulated regarding him. “I deeply regret that there are apparently people who find it necessary to breach their professional secrecy, by disclosing information from a criminal file in which I am not at all involved, and this only to obtain some media attention. .”
Be that as it may, the “Clean Hands” affair has not finished making people talk regarding it…
