But only Pro models with 120 Hz?

Hopes for ProMotion in the iPhone 14 across the entire lineup received an initial dampener immediately following it was raised. The usually well-informed analyst Ross Young does not see this development. In his estimation, 120 Hz is reserved for Pro buyers.

Apple has implemented ProMotion in an iPhone for the first time in the current iPhone 13 lineup. Thus, a refresh rate of up to 120 Hz can be offered. However, ProMotion is only available in the iPhone 13 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro Max. For this, Apple uses LTPO OLED panels, which are obtained exclusively from Samsung Display.

At least the limitation to 120 Hz in the Pro model continues, says Ross Young.

Does the cheaper iPhone 14 only come with 60 Hz?

The analyst from the DSCC group, in an assessment he shared on the short message service Twitter, assumes that only the iPhone 14 Pro and the large Max model will have ProMotion,

he contradicts earlier speculations to the contrary, Applepage.de reported. The Chinese display giant BOE is currently trying to get production orders for OLED panels for the cheaper iPhone 14, but does not yet have sufficient production capacities.

As before, Samsung Display, but also LG Display, should remain indispensable in order to manufacture all the required panels. The iPhone 14 Pro might also come with a significantly upgraded camera, like ours in one earlier notification had reported. As always, the release is expected in autumn. 120 Hz in smartphones is no longer the norm for high-end devices. Against this background, Apple would be well behind the industry average with a top model with 60 Hz.
