Resumption of navigation in the Bosphorus Strait

AA / Istanbul/ Muhammed Gencebay Gur

The Turkish Coastal Security Directorate restored maritime traffic in both directions in the Bosphorus Strait on Sunday evening, following it was suspended due to the engine failure of a cargo ship during its passage through the strait.

In a statement posted on Twitter, the Directorate announced that the vessel “Brave Night”, which broke down near Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge, was towed safely to the anchorage at Buyukdere Cove.

Earlier on Sunday evening, Coastal Security Directorate units were dispatched to the site of the distressed vessel, which was en route to Romania from the Turkish province of Tekirdağ.
