The header of the bus company The Primera of Grand Bourg, in San Miguel, suffered a serious fire during the early hours of this Sunday that might be controlled thanks to the work of the company’s drivers and several fire departments. As a result of what happened, no fatalities were recorded, but there were material losses, including destruction of 20 units.
The flames began around half past two in the morning at the head of Bishop Blois and Spain, in the center of San Miguel, where the total transport fleet of La Primera de Grand Bourg was located, which includes lines 315, 440 and 740.
For reasons that are still unknown, one of the units caught fire and quickly the fire spread to those around. Too “many explosions were heard from the fuel tanks” but “luckily, it didn’t happen to majors”, the company’s employees commented to Daily Effect.
They worked to put out the fire at least six fire crews, including those of General Sarmiento, San Miguel and José C. Paz. Civil Defense personnel, traffic officers and even the company’s drivers also participated, who together with the firefighters were in charge of removing the units to prevent them from being reached by the flames.
There were no fatalities or injuries, although the destruction of 20 groups that might not be saved from the flames was recorded, so The company’s service is expected to work with delays during the next few hours.
Currently, the Primera de Grand Bourg, one of the main transport lines in the northwestern area, works 53 bus routes and has more than 800 stops between its three services, which cover the area of San Miguel, Los Polvorines, Don Torcuato and José C. Peace.
