On November 10, 2021, the AccorHotels Arena concert hall in Paris is sold out. That evening, nearly 20,000 people came to attend the concert of Nigerian Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu, alias Burna Boy. A star in his country, the thirty-something has also become one in Europe and the United States. He continues collaborations with the most prominent artists, from Beyoncé to Chris Martin of the group Coldplay, through the Senegalese singer Youssou N’Dour.
Lucas Minisini, journalist for M The World Magazine, returns in this episode of the podcast “L’Heure du Monde” on the journey of Burna Boy as well as that of a whole generation of young Nigerian artists, whose afrobeat pieces go far beyond the borders of their country, and impose themselves in the global music industry.
An episode produced by Cyrielle Bedu, directed by Amandine Robillard and presented by Morgane Tual.
