Less than a month following being appointed global ambassador for the luxury brand Dior, both for the world of men’s fashion and for the Sauvage Dior perfume, Kylian Mbappé unveiled a new partnership this Thursday. This is the American brand of Oakley glasses.
The PSG striker posted on his Instagram account to 64.5 million subscribers a one-minute clip made for the occasion. “Today I’m starting a new adventure by being a part of #TeamOakley, together on a mission to inspire others to believe in themselves,” he wrote in the commentary. An idea he also wanted to convey with his recent autobiographical comic, in the form of a graphic novel, “My name is Kylian” with which he wishes “to deliver the message that you must always follow and believe in your dreams. No one will believe it for you ”.
Oakley and Dior join the three other major partners of the child of Bondy who has just celebrated his 23 years: Nike, Hublot and EA Sports.
The video of the props tells the false legend “of a boy from the Paris suburbs born with a gift and who would be the chosen one”. “It was not a gift that led him to the top,” says the voice-over. But “his failures before succeeding, studying the greatest before becoming one” and ultimately taking charge of his destiny.
In a statement, the brand explained, “At Oakley, we believe that athletes are not only measured by physical performance, speed or accuracy, but also by strength of heart, generosity and skill. their empathy. And that’s what Kylian means to us: a remarkable person who understands his role beyond sport to lead and inspire future generations to believe in them and stay who they are ”.
On the site, we can read this quote from Mbappé: “I identify with Oakley in many ways: the rupture, the spirit of innovation and the dynamic of wanting to create a positive change”.
In the past, we remember that Oakley had long been linked to Lance Armstrong before breaking his contract with the American cyclist in 2012, due to the cancellation of his seven victories in the Tour de France for doping.
