The National Meteorological Service foresees four types of weather event alerts organized by colors: green, yellow, orange and red, from least to most dangerous.
A meteorological alert, explains the SMN, is a message that informs regarding the possible occurrence of phenomena that, due to their characteristics, might put the environment or the life and property of society at risk. They are preventive and are issued days or hours before the occurrence of the phenomenon.
The information from the alerts is intended for the entire population to take action and take decisions and precautionary measures aimed at minimizing the impacts that the meteorological situation may have.

Green alert: “Tranquillity”. It applies when meteorological phenomena that imply risks are not expected.
-
Yellow alert: “Get informed.” It applies to the possibility of potentially harmful phenomena and with the risk of momentary interruption of daily activities.
-
Orange alert: “Get ready.” It is when there can be dangerous meteorological phenomena for society, life, property and the environment.
