NBA basketball: the elusive Ja Morant allows Memphis to break a record

Ja Morant is decidedly unstoppable at the start of 2022. Two days following his exceptional counter once morest Los Angeles Lakers player Avery Bradley, the Memphis point guard signed two decisive actions at the end of the game to allow his team to win (116-108) once morest Golden State in the overnight clash from Tuesday to Wednesday.

While the Grizzlies were three points ahead (111-108) 45 seconds from the buzzer, Ja Morant first attacked the circle before concluding with a spectacular one-handed shot despite the defense of Gary Payton II. Twenty seconds later, the leader did it once more by taking his opponent Andrew Wiggins up and then scoring two more points thanks to a subtle lay-up, with the fault of the winger of the Warriors, to fold the game.

He passed a milestone this season

The 22-year-old phenomenon ends the game with 29 points (11/23 on shots) completed by 8 assists and 5 rebounds. This victory, the 10th in a row, once morest the best team of the regular season (30 wins – 10 losses) allows Memphis (29-14) to break a record in the history of the franchise and move up to 3rd place of the Western conference tied with the Jazz of Rudy Gobert currently absent.

Spring loaded, Ja Morant has clearly passed a milestone this season, the 3rd in the NBA. Drafted in second position in 2019, the leader has multiplied spectacular actions since the start of his career thanks to his extraordinary relaxation and explosiveness. But this year, he has refined his game and improved his shooting percentage and in particular a 3 points which makes him a formidable player who will dominate the NBA in the coming years.

In the short term, he will undoubtedly participate in the All Star Game in Cleveland on February 20 before allowing his team to play in the play-offs with the hope of perhaps playing the NBA Finals for the first time.
