Covid cases skyrocket by more than 50%: Venezuela reports 1,267 infections

Coronavirus cases soared in more than 50% this Wednesday, January 12, since the last report offered by the Venezuelan authorities. Of the 33 imported cases, 11 come from the Dominican Republic, 5 from Panama, 4 from Turkey, 4 from the Philippines, 4 from Spain, 2 from the United States, 1 from Lebanon, 1 from Nigeria and 1 from Mexico, all with entry through La Guaira.

The minister explained that Venezuela reaches 449,730 confirmed cases, 437,624 people recovered, which represents 97% of infections. There are 6,736 active cases, 5,725 are being treated in the public health system and 1,011 in private clinics.

To date we have 4,258 patients who are asymptomatic, 1,797 with mild acute respiratory failure, 513 with moderate acute respiratory failure, and 168 in the Intensive Care Unit.
