Complete vaccination schedule will be mandatory for employees of public establishments

The increase in infections due to the arrival of the omicron variant of covid-19 in Colombia has generated new measures by the government, with which it seeks to mitigate the possible economic effects, in the health system and in the lives of citizens. This time, the health authorities announced that employees of public establishments must complete their vaccination schedule.

The decision was announced through a circular issued this January 12 by the Ministry of Labor, with which employers are also urged to assume hygiene and safety measures that guarantee safe conditions, both for workers and for the clients.

This would impact the workforce of massive spaces such as bars, gastrobars, restaurants, cinemas, discos, dance venues, concerts, casinos, bingo halls and leisure activities. Likewise, employees of sports venues, amusement and theme parks, museums and any activity that involves customer service.

“Workers and employers who carry out their functions in establishments open to the public and that imply attention to the public, must take into account that the Vaccination is not only a preventive measure for the individual, but also a health to prevent the spread of coronavirus ”, states the new circular.

The measure is in addition to what is described in the second article of the Decree 1615 of 2021, issued on November 30, with which began the mandatory vaccination card for attendees to these places, where the beginning of the scheme is at least evident.

In the Decree, in addition, the Government promised a day off during the first quarter of 2022 to public servants and official workers to complete their vaccination schedules or apply booster doses in December.
