Reports said Wednesday that British broadcaster Simon Cowell, 62, has proposed to his girlfriend, Lauren Silverman, 44, following an eight-year relationship.
And the British newspaper, “Daily Mail”, reported that Simon proposed marriage while they were in Barbados during the New Year holidays with their son Eric, 7, and Lauren, Adam, 16.
A source said, “Lauren was surprised by the offer, and was not at all expecting Simon to propose to her. She cried and apparently agreed on the spot.”
He added: “Lauren has been by Simon’s side over the past years and has supported him when he had a broken back, although Simon wasn’t the type to marry, he realized he had met the woman of his dreams, and he mightn’t be happier than that.”
Simon had met Lauren while she was still married to businessman Andrew Silverman.
Their relationship came to light – and Simon’s life changed – at the end of July 2013 when news broke that Lauren was pregnant.
Simon had previously said he “doesn’t believe in marriage”.
