His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, visited the Republic of Turkey’s pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai, which is located in the Sustainability Zone, and bears the slogan “We rise to the future for a sustainable world.” He was received by Mustafa Alkir Kılıç, Consul General of the Republic of Turkey in the country.
His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri stressed the importance of Expo 2020 Dubai in enhancing the UAE’s position as a global destination for attracting investments, talent, business growth and a knowledge economy. It also provides a dynamic platform for dialogue in the areas of digital economy, artificial intelligence, modern financial technologies, the Fourth Industrial Revolution, modern agriculture, smart cities and sustainable development solutions to address environmental and climate change issues, support the green economy and create a sustainable future for future generations. During the visit, His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq was briefed on the pavilion’s exhibits, which represent a mirror of Turkey’s ancient history, and its capital, Istanbul, which has a rich past and a rich industrial heritage, dating back to the city’s history as the capital of 3 major empires, the Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman.
The Turkish pavilion at Expo 2020 Dubai combines the civilized, cultural, technological, and other aspects, in addition to providing many cultural and folkloric events and performances. It is noteworthy that Turkey ranks 11th among the largest trading partners of the UAE, while the UAE is Turkey’s twelfth trading partner globally. His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy, visited the United Nations Center at Expo 2020, which is located inside the Opportunities Pavilion, and embodies the 17 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals through artworks by local and international artists. His Excellency met Dr. Dina Assaf, the United Nations Resident Coordinator in the UAE and Deputy Commissioner-General of the United Nations at the Expo, and listened to an integrated explanation of the message presented by the United Nations through its presence at the exhibition. His Excellency Abdullah bin Touq said that the artworks and programs presented by the United Nations Center at Expo 2020 Dubai provide an important humanitarian message regarding the role and influence of the individual in achieving sustainable development goals and creating a better future and a better world for future generations.
