ONDA forecasts a turnover of 2.8 billion dh in 2022

In a statement released at the end of the meeting of its board of directors, held on Monday under the chairmanship of the Minister of Transport and Logistics, Mohammed Abdeljalil, ONDA specified that these forecasts indicate that air traffic is estimated to 14 million passengers, or 56% of traffic for 2019, and overflight activity to reach 67% of the level for 2019.

According to the same source, a budget envelope of around 2 billion dh will be allocated to investments, of which 50% for the further development of airport capacities.

The meeting was also an opportunity to recall the main investment projects completed in 2021 relating to the commissioning of the new terminal at Nador El Aroui airport and the new temporary terminal dedicated to national transport at the airport. Mohammed V, as well as the start of the implementation of a new concept of direct routes in Moroccan airspace and the commissioning of various radio navigation and communication equipment.

In terms of achievements, the investment expenditure incurred in 2021 amounted to MAD 832 million and the turnover to more than MAD 2 billion, a decrease of 52% compared to 2019 and an increase of 29 % compared to 2020, recalled the press release, specifying that this performance is due in particular to the improvement in passenger air traffic which stood at 9.97 million, which represents 40% of the traffic achieved in 2019.

During this meeting in videoconference mode, the board also reviewed the efforts made by ONDA to preserve the health and safety of airport staff and users during this year marked by the prolongation of the health crisis and to ensure the availability of critical equipment and infrastructure, the statement continued, adding that these efforts have enabled 16 Moroccan airports to obtain the “Airport Health Accreditation” label issued by the International Airports Council.
