On Wednesday, the Armenian Ministry of Defense announced the discovery, during the night, of the lifeless body of a third of its soldiers, found with gunshot wounds.

According to Baku, the clashes are taking place in the Azerbaijani border region of Kalbajar, located near the disputed Nagorno-Karabakh enclave.

The Armenian army accuses the Azerbaijani forces of having attacked its positions with artillery and drones, while Baku spoke of “provocations” from its neighbor.

“Recurrent attacks”

The Armenian Foreign Ministry on Tuesday evening denounced in a statement the “recurrent attacks” by Azerbaijani forces and their “infiltration into” Armenian territory, calling for a joint withdrawal of forces from the two border camps in favor of Azerbaijani forces. an “international monitoring mechanism”.

On Monday, pro-Armenian authorities in Nagorno-Karabakh said four civilians came under fire from Azerbaijani forces while carrying out agricultural work.

They also reported the bombing of a village in the Martouni region by Azerbaijani forces, in which a civilian vehicle was destroyed.

The war between these two countries in 2020 left more than 6,500 dead and ended with the defeat of Armenia, forced to cede to Azerbaijan several regions forming a glacis around Nagorno-Karabakh, in particular that of from Kalbajar. Since then, clashes take place there regularly, in particular because the two camps are opposed on the delimitation of their border.
