Record investments in French Tech: Fintech boom and acceleration of foreign inflows

While French Tech was well represented last week at CES 2022 in Las Vegas, KPMG France has just revealed the results of its annual Tech Insights 2021 study which takes stock of the activity of the French tech ecosystem in over the past year.

Among the main lessons, the survey points to the record level of investments and operations carried out in 2021, reinforcing the dynamism of startups:

  • The amounts raised in French Tech in 2021 increased by 125% compared to 2020, with 298 operations carried out.
  • In 2021, 162 operations attracted at least one foreign fund to the capital, up 54% compared to 2020.
  • The Ile-de-France region still concentrates the vast majority of investments.
  • Fintechs lead the sector top both in terms of value – 2.4 billion euros – volume and operations of more than one hundred million euros.

“The distribution of investments between all French regions shows the immense potential of French tech players and the importance of startups in supporting the dynamism of the French economy.
