The Regional Health Agency (ARS) of Occitanie advises the inhabitants of the region to make an appointment for vaccination as of today. Without waiting for the influx to come linked to new government decisions.
In Occitania,Regional Health Agency (ARS) advises residents not to wait to make an appointment for the vaccination. She foresees a strong attendance in the coming weeks, in particular linked to new government decisions. In fact, in mid-January, unvaccinated people and those who have not had their booster dose within seven months of their last injection should lose the validity of their health pass, which might become a vaccination pass.
Expansion of the vaccination offer in Occitania
“To respond as quickly as possible to vaccination needs, many systems are mobilized throughout Occitania”, continues the ARS. Near 160 new centers have opened since the beginning of January, including those of Toulouse-Mermoz on the island of Ramier and of Revel in Haute-Garonne, or the one of the cultural center of Foix in Ariège this Thursday, January 13. All vaccination points are referenced on the site www.sante.fr.
The vaccination operations are also increasing, For example In Toulouse in the districts of Saouzelong (Thursday January 13), the center (Monday January 17), Pradettes (Tuesday January 18) and Reynerie (Thursday January 20) but also in Aussonne in the Tarn-et-Garonne and in Saint-Girons in Ariège last weekend.
At the same time, liberal health professionals have increased their activity of vaccination in practice, dispensary or at home. “The commitment of the teams meets the same objective of allowing us all to be better protected, first once morest the Delta variant which still circulates strongly in our region and once morest the new Omicron variant”, adds the health authority.
Pfizer or Modern?
“The protection is comparable, regardless of the vaccine administered, Pfizer or Moderna”, underlines the Regional Health Agency. They have the same active principle, according to the so-called “messenger RNA” (mRNA) technology. ” These two vaccines are compatible with each other. For example, we may have received the first two doses of Pfizer vaccine and received a booster dose in Moderna and vice versa. The only differences concern their packaging and their storage methods ”, specifies the ARS.
The High Authority of Health (HAS) even recalled on November 8 that “several studies carried out in real conditions of use tend to show a slightly higher vaccine efficacy for Moderna compared to Pfizer, whose efficiency is already very good ”.
Pending additional data, HAS recommends the Pfizer vaccine for children under 30. Because “very rare cases (approximately 1 / 10,000) of inflammation of the heart muscle, most of the time transient and not serious, were observed before this age with the Moderna vaccine”, concludes the ARS Occitanie. This can be explained by the higher concentration of mRNA in the Moderna vaccine than in the Pfizer.
