In a message posted Monday on his Instagram account, the wife of the hockey player, Julie Petry, indicated that she will remain in Michigan for the remainder of the campaign with the three children of the couple. It is also in this state that the whole family spends their summers. After the Habs veteran tested positive for COVID-19 on December 27, he headed to his other home, leaving his teammates behind as they continued their trek in the southeastern United States.

For his part, Mme Petry joined her husband to spend the following days with him, except the whole family had to deal with the coronavirus. Now, Petry is back in the fold of the Canadiens and was also present at Tuesday’s training in Brossard. However, he will stay away from his loved ones until the end of the regular schedule, which is currently set for April 29.

“Even though we made the tough decision to separate our family for the next three and a half months, we know it’s the best for our family,” the player’s wife wrote. One can only hope for a return to normalcy next fall, but at this point I’m taking it one day at a time and grateful that I have an alternative to stay somewhere our boys can go. adapt to a much more normal lifestyle. ”

“And I’m super happy with these two and a half extra weeks [et inattendues] that we spent with Jeff while he waited for Canada to allow him to cross the border to join his team. What a time! ”She added.

A break that feels good

Also, the rear seems to have enjoyed these moments with his bodyguard just as much, away from criticism from the public and the media.

“It was good to take a step back and find yourself a little removed from everything related to hockey,” he confessed, at the end of Tuesday’s session. Certainly, the circumstances were not the best, but on a family level, it was ideal. I spent time with my family and let go of everything in my head. I am recovering physically and mentally to prepare to return. Hopefully I can sort out some things in order to provide better hockey. ”

Jeff Petry and the Canadiens are scheduled to visit the Boston Bruins on Wednesday and the Chicago Blackhawks the next day.
