Brahmdeo Mandal, a 65-year-old man from India’s Bihar region, said he was vaccinated 11 times in all, over an 11-month period. The authorities realized this as he was regarding to receive a twelfth dose at a vaccination center, relate la BBC.
He claimed to have received his first vaccine in February 2020, and that the interval between his vaccines ranged from two months to two days. To achieve his ends, the man allegedly used several false identity documents.
He explains that if he wants to be injected with so many doses, it is because the vaccine would have cured his back pain. “I had been dealing with joint pain for eight years. When I saw doctors, they told me that a lack of calcium was the cause of the pain. I took medication, but to no avail. “he explains.
“I received the first dose of the vaccine on February 13 of last year and the second dose the following month. I then realized that my joint and body pains were gone. I thought the COVID-19 vaccines had worked. My appetite also increased, “he said.
An investigation is underway to determine how Mr Mandal managed to get himself vaccinated so many times.
“We have already found evidence that he received eight injections in four different places,” Amarendra Pratap Shahi, civil surgeon from Madhepura, told the BBC.
India mainly administers two locally produced vaccines, Covishield and Covaxin.
