Marrakech pursues its regional development plan

The health crisis that the world is going through has revealed how much a territorial approach is necessary to overcome all kinds of imbalances. Hit hard by the Covid-19, the Marrakech region is working on many projects aimed at improving its economic attractiveness and the social inclusion of its population, especially young people. Thus, the regional development program of the ocher city continues with the implementation of several projects at the start of 2022. Tourist routes, public transport, tracks, industrial park… Overview of some projects recently launched in the region .

Enhancement of tourist circuits

The medina of Marrakech is one of the key elements of the region’s tourist influence. To enhance its circuits, the city is working on their rehabilitation as part of the dedicated enhancement program. The first step will be to improve the lighting network and the brightness of these routes for visitors and residents.

The city’s development program is continuing in 2022 with also re-qualification work on certain sites such as the historic circuit going from Bab Taghazout to Diour Saboun.

Development of tracks

In order to improve the population’s access to the road network, the construction and development projects of tracks at the prefecture are underway covering a total of 42.78 kilometers. They concern several municipalities, namely Harbil, Loudaya, Ait Imour, Ouahat Sidi Brahim or even Saada. Among the projects launched we can mention the construction of the track connecting the national road n ° 8 and Zaouiat Ben Sassi with a length of approximately 4.5 kilometers.

Improve the quality of public transport service

In terms of public urban mobility, buses are one of the preferred modes of public transport. With the aim of upgrading this service, Bus City recently launched a call for tenders the purpose of which is to assist the company within the framework of the signing of the contract for the operation of the public service of collective transport by bus on the territory of Greater Marrakech by the Group of local authorities Marrakech Transport.

An industrial zone with a multi-ecosystem vocation

There are only 36 days left for the end of the call for projects relating to the acquisition of lots in the industrial park of Sidi Bouathmane. Recently launched by the Regional Investment Center as part of the development of economic activity in the Safi-Marrakech Region, this project is in partnership with the province of Rhamna, the municipality of Sidi Bouathmane, the regional directorate of trade and the industry of Marrakech-Safi and the Urban Agency of Kelâa of Sraghna Rhamna. It is part of the development of economic activity in the Marrakech-Safi region and offers a structured and competitive land offer.

The objective is to pre-select projects that create values ​​and jobs for the region. Located 20 minutes from Marrakech, this park covers an area of ​​107 hectares. It has 357 plots for industrial projects and 15 local socio-administrative lots, varied and complementary to industry. The vocation of this industrial park is multi-ecosystem (agro-food industry, plastics, chemicals-parachemistry, leather and crafts). Note that this park has benefited from financial support from the Hassan II Fund for economic and social development.
