The University of Georgia won the NCAA Championship title, for the third time in its history (following 1942 and 1980), Monday in Indianapolis. The Bulldogs won in the final once morest the defending champion Alabama Crimson Tide (33-18).
Georgia made the difference late in the game. During the first period, no touchdown was scored. Alabama led 9-6 at the break. Then, in the third quarter, Zamir White, the Bulldogs’ running back, scored the first TD of the game (13-9).
The Crimson Tide then took the lead (18-13), but Georgia finally scored three touchdowns in the last eight minutes: two receptions from Adonai Mitchell and Brock Bowers and a 79-yard interception return from Kelee Ringo.
