The Reyes Bridge in Cartagena ended with a tragedy following knowing the death by drowning of two people who were in a beach area in the community of Manzanillo, in the north of the city.
According to information provided by the Cartagena Lifeguard Corps, the first deceased is a minor under 14 years of age, when realizing that the young man did not leave the sea, several people launched their search and rescue. However, this second action led to the death of the other victim, a 21-year-old. The latter would be an inhabitant of Manzanillo, who heroically tried to save the teenager.
The two bodies were found near the spa where the events occurred, which are the subject of investigation by the authorities. The strongest hypothesis around this tragedy is that both victims were dragged by strong ocean currents to a deeper area from which they might not escape.
