An Israeli satellite begins testing technology to protect once morest cosmic radiation

JERUSALEM, Jan. 9, 2022 (Xinhua) Tel Aviv University in central Israel announced on Sunday that the Israeli satellite (TaiSat-3), designed to test protection technology once morest cosmic radiation, has safely arrived at the International Space Station.

The university said in a statement that the satellite, which is the size of a shoebox, contains an innovative mechanism to detect and mitigate cosmic ray damage to space systems.

She added that the satellite designed and built by its experts was successfully installed and operated on the International Space Station, and communication with the international stations has already begun.

The researchers said that the moon will allow the use of modern electronic systems in space by integrating them into the protected environment.

According to the researchers, at present, electronic equipment sent into space must be modified specifically to prevent radiation.

They added that the new satellite “will enable the use of advanced electronic components while significantly shortening development periods and reducing the costs of space products.”

The satellite was launched on December 21, 2021 from the Kennedy Space Center in Florida aboard a Falcon 9 rocket and then transferred to the International Space Station via a spacecraft.
