Tragedy in Manzanillo del Mar: a minor and a young man drowned | THE UNIVERSAL

The Cartagena Lifeguard Corps reported the drowning of a minor and a young man in the Playa de Oro sector of Manzanillo del Mar.

The teenager, whom authorities identified as 14-year-old Ferney Beleño Mondol, entered the sea at 10 a.m. today, but never came out despite the efforts of lifeguards, who rescued five other children who bathed with Ferney. It is not yet clear how the terrible event occurred. The authorities assured that half an hour later, Sebastián Pérez Manrique, 21, a native of Manzanillo del Mar, threw himself following reporting that he had apparently seen the drowned child and also disappeared into the water.

At 3 o’clock in the followingnoon today, the body of Nightshade Mondol appeared floating in Playa de Oro and was rescued from the water by lifeguards. At 4:40 a.m., Sebastián’s body also appeared, very close to where the minor’s body was found. Members of the CTI of the Prosecutor’s Office carry out the removal of the corpses and then transfer them to the Forensic Medicine facilities.

Three drowned in 2022

José Antonio Gómez Castro, a 15-year-old adolescent, drowned on January 1 on the beaches of Crespo. According to his relatives, José Antonio left without permission with some friends, and when he was on the spurs chasing an animal he fell into the sea and drowned. One of the friends who was with him, apparently tried to help him, but mightn’t. The minor became the first drowned man of the year.

His body, according to the authorities’ report, was found in the open sea at around 6 in the followingnoon on January 2.
