Montgomery College Receives $ 1 Million to Support the ‘Basic Needs’ of Students

Montgomery College will receive $ 973,741 in federal funding to help students succeed, announced US Senators Chris Van Hollen and Ben Cardin and US Representatives Jamie Raskin, David Trone and John Sarbanes.

The Department of Education’s “Basic Needs – Supporting Student Success” funding is designed to help at least 1,500 students obtain food assistance, health and mental support, housing, transportation, child care, dependent care and technology during three years.

“Every Maryland resident should have the opportunity to pursue their dreams regardless of the size of their bank account. These funds will help ensure that by connecting hundreds of Montgomery College students with the housing, food, healthcare and other critical resources they need, ”the legislators wrote in a press release.

Montgomery College currently offers classroom and online classes.
