Hyundai unveiled this Monday the i20 Hybrid Rally, the new car from Thierry neuville and of his co-pilot Martijn Wydaeghe. The Korean manufacturer is the first of three manufacturers entered in the World Rally Championship to officially unveil its new car for 2022.
The big change for this new season is the arrival of the hybrid and the new Rally 1 regulations. Thierry Neuville’s team worked for many months to present this brand new car. Next to the Belgian we will find Ott Tänak, Oliver Solberg and Dani Sordo. 4 Hyundai will therefore be entered for this new season.
The new Hyndai are heavier and no longer have a differential. Aerodynamic downforce is less present than before. On the menu under the hood, a 1.6 turbo thermal unit and a 100 kw hybrid system which gives 134 hp more power.
In cumulative power we now reach the equivalent of 500 horsepower. Note the presence of an imposing fin which will have the mission of keeping these new WRC monsters on the ground.
The first meeting of the WRC season is the Monte Carlo in 10 days.
