10 dead after rocky mountain fall on boats

(CNN) — Two more bodies were found this Sunday followingnoon following a rocky mountain portion fell on top of several tourist boats in the Brazilian state of Minas Gerais on Saturday, raising the death toll from the incident to 10, according to the news outlet. State Agência Brasil.

The bodies were taken to a morgue in the town of Passos to identify them, according to the agency.

A Passos police chief, Marcos Pimenta, told a news conference that efforts to identify the victims will continue for an indeterminate time. “We are not concerned at all if we take days, and if necessary, we will continue working more,” he said, according to CNN Brazil, a CNN affiliate.

Some 50 professionals are involved in rescue efforts, including 11 divers from the state fire department and more than two dozen members of the armed forces, according to Agência Brasil.

At least 32 people were injured in the incident, according to Agência Brasil, which cited information from state fire department officials. Most of the injuries were minor, although at least two people suffered fractures and were operated on in regional hospitals, according to Agência Brasil.

The President of Brazil, Jair Bolsonaro, tweeted the video He added that the Navy deployed a team from the relief force to join the search and rescue efforts.

The state of Minas Gerais has been under heavy rains. On Friday, Brazil’s National Institute of Meteorology issued red warnings for Minas Gerais, projecting more than 100 millimeters of rain per day for at least four days, state media Agência Brasil reported.
