Recently, on January 7th, VERIVERY members Minchan, Hoyoung and Kangmin took to the popular streaming platform, V Live, to chat with their fans, VERRER.
During the live broadcast, however, Minchan drew attention to his comments when discussing his time in college, especially when talking regarding a female celebrity.

Minchan began by explaining that in college he had a classmate who was a celebrity and transferred to his school.
“During my third year of college, there was this celebrity who transferred to our school”, Minchan said.
Hearing this, Member Hoyoung asked if she was still a celebrity to this day, which Minchan says he’s not sure.
Kangmin went on to talk regarding the celebrity being an older person (sunbae), as she was already in the entertainment industry before VERIVERY debuted.
Minchan went on to talk regarding the anonymous celebrity, saying: “I don’t know, but back then, if you wrote their band’s name on Naver, it would show up. “
While her memories of her past regarding meeting a celebrity seemed innocent, it was her next words that didn’t please viewers.
Minchan went on to explain that the group had not actually released any songs or albums, and also spoke regarding the appearance of the celebrity.
“But it’s not like an album or a song was released, they had a band name and she was one of the band members. So I thought “oh, she’s a celebrity”. But… how can I say that… my fantasies have been shattered ”, Minchan began.
He continued: “For me at the time, if you were a celebrity, it meant you were beautiful and handsome, like someone from another world. But somehow she looked very familiar. Because we always see faces like ours, don’t we? Our friends at school don’t really wear makeup and so on, do they? This friend didn’t have an exceptional appearance or anything. So I thought, “Oh, celebrities are human too. “But she was in a white van, so…”
At the end of their story, Minchan added that the band’s name had four syllables and started with B / V. Hoyoung then joked that it was VERIVERY.
Hearing his words, netizens criticized the idol for commenting on someone’s appearance, plus a sunbae.

The live broadcast was quickly removed from the rerun. He quickly posted an apology on the group’s official social media.
