Is photovoltaics a solution to avoid excessively high electricity bills? With the increase in energy prices, the investment seems wise and many Belgians have decided to take the plunge. In recent weeks, requests from installers have been on the rise.
“Financially, it was obvious“reveals Philippe Van Loo. He recently installed photovoltaic panels on the roof of his home and the first results on his bill were quickly felt: “We installed 29 panels for around 10,000 euros and this reduced our energy bills by more than 100 euros per month. This was the case before the rise in electricity prices and the reduction will be even greater with the new ones. prices“, he notes.
A nice reduction that Giovanni Carbonne also notices. Since the installation of his panels, he has spent almost nothing on his energy: “Initially, I paid 220 euros per month for gas and electricity. Today, I only pay the rental of the meter, or regarding twenty euros per month. When I receive the statement at the end of the year, I am at 0 euros so I no longer pay for gas and electricity.“
Companies are also turning to photovoltaics
Individuals are not the only ones turning to solar energy, many companies have also scented the right deal to reduce their costs.
This is particularly the case for the Coworking Business Center Ecoly space in Namur, where we are impatiently awaiting the end of winter: “As soon as the sun’s rays arrive, our new photovoltaic panels should allow us to save a lot of money. We have invested in 1200 solar panels expected to produce 400,000 kW of electricity each year. It is estimated that we will be able to save 60,000 euros in electricity per year for an investment of more than 300,000 euros“, details Paul De Sauvage, managing director of the Ecolys business village.
This investment, this company will be able to compensate for it in no time in view of the current state of the market: “Initially, this investment was to be amortized over 6-7 years. With the increase in prices, we think we will reduce our amortization period so it is a very good choice.“concludes Paul De Sauvage.
High demand but no delay
Photovoltaic panel installation companies are seeing demand increase and they don’t expect it to drop in the coming months: “The price of energy is expected to remain at the current level for the coming year, around € 180 / MWh. This is a level that will gradually decrease in 2023 and 2024. We expect a normalization but we will never return to the same level as before. In terms of activity, this means that we will have a lot of work for the years 2022-2023“, says Benoit Fosséprez, Managing Director of Green Energy.
Despite the increase in demand, companies are able to follow suit. The deadlines for the installation of photovoltaic panels are not extended.
