Sayed Abdel Hafeez, director of football at the Egyptian Al-Ahly Club, sparked controversy, by talking regarding his club’s management thinking regarding entering into negotiations with Moroccan Ashraf Bin Sharqi, player of Zamalek, during the current winter transfer period.
Ben Sharqi’s contract with Zamalek expires at the end of the current season, and the player has so far refused to renew his contract with the White Castle, due to the difference over the financial compensation.
Abdel Hafeez said, in televised statements, on Saturday evening, “Ben Sharqi is a very distinguished player, and he is definitely playing in a big club, and it is an opportunity and a natural situation that you think of as a player and potential.”
Ben Sharqi participated with Zamalek in 8 local and African matches during the current season, scoring 5 goals and making one goal.
And press reports revealed that the two Moroccan players in the ranks of the Zamalek club, Ashraf Bencharki and Mohamed Onajem, sent an official warning to their club, including inquiring regarding the overdue dues to them.
And Mortada Mansour, president of Zamalek club, sent a message to Laban Sharqi during his meeting with the players last week, saying, “If you want a penalty clause in your contract, this is your natural right, and if you sign for another club, a ceremony will be arranged to honor you for what you presented with Zamalek and make you happy for the fans, And if you don’t sign, you won’t find a better club than this club.”
Bin Sharqi insists on setting a penalty clause to terminate his contract with Zamalek in exchange for one million dollars, provided that this clause is activated starting from the first season of the new contract.
Bin Sharqi joined Zamalek from Al Hilal in the summer of 2019 for a period of three years.
The Moroccan star played 85 matches with Zamalek, scored 35 goals and made 20.
Ben Sharqi succeeded in winning the Egyptian League, the Egypt Cup, the Egyptian Super and the African Super.
