The Japanese PlayStation company has officially announced a next-generation virtual reality headset that will be compatible with the PS5, called PlayStation VR2. It also promised that the PlayStation VR 2 will have “new sensory features, improved controls, and improved visual accuracy tracking.” Mountain, from the makers of Horizon Zero Dawn, to be the first game on the platform.
According to a blog the manufacturer revealed the official name of its headset, the PlayStation VR2 headset is also referred to as PSVR 2, and it will debut alongside the new PlayStation VR2 Sense console (which appears to be inspired by Oculus Touch as reported by TechBooky.
The company says virtual reality gaming will be taken to a ‘whole new level’ with the PSVR 2, the significantly improved spec headset that will provide you with a ‘greater sense of presence’ that will provide gamers with a feeling of ‘escape into the gaming world like never before’.
With a combination of the new headset technology, the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller’s haptic feedback and adaptive stimuli, the Japanese tech giant believes it offers an ‘increasing range of sensations like no other’. In 2021, when the manufacturer announced the launch of the new PSVR system, it sent a new sense of the brand’s commitment to virtual reality. Details of the PlayStation VR2 Sense controller have emerged while the headset details are yet to come.
And given that the manufacturer faces a number of challenges getting enough PS5s to meet demand, it may take a long time to launch PSVR 2 in 2022 to keep production lines focused on the console.
