On charges of assaulting orphaned girls, a famous businessman was imprisoned in Egypt

The investigation authorities in Cairo decided, yesterday evening, Friday, to detain the Egyptian businessman, Mohamed Al-Amin Ragab Ahmed, for 4 days pending investigation in a case related to his accusation of human trafficking and assaulting some girls in an orphanage he founded in Beni Suef Governorate.

And the Public Prosecution’s decisions came in Case No. 885 of 2022, to imprison the accused, Muhammad Al-Amin Rajab Ahmed Juma’a, for a period of 4 days, pending investigations.

It also requested the opinion of the investigations of the Department for Combating Human Trafficking and Illegal Immigration on the incident.

This case caused a sensation in Egyptian circles and on social media. Especially following the security services announced that they had received a report that Al-Amin had committed crimes punishable by law with a number of girls inside the orphanage, in reference to the harassment of them.

It is noteworthy that Al-Amin is the founder of the CBC and Modern channels, in addition to founding the Arab News Agency AUA and Al-Nahar TV. He was also a partner in the Amer Group of Companies.
