Scientists develop an app that can measure blood pressure from a smartphone camera

A group of scientists has announced that they have developed an application that can measure blood pressure through a smartphone camera only.

The scientists explained, according to what was published by the specialized technical website “The Verge”, that they had developed health tools that can calculate blood pressure using a video clip captured through a smartphone or laptop camera.

The application is still under development before it is presented to users, especially since its techniques are still questionable by a number of experts.

It will replace all home health devices, says David Maman, CEO of Benah, the company that developed the app.

The application mechanism analyzes the performance of the light reflected on the face, to calculate changes in blood flow through a technique called photoluminescence.

Through this technology, it is also possible to measure the percentage of oxygen in the blood and heart rate as well.

Although most of the applications that use optical imaging technology are a bracelet that is installed in the hand, the company decided to develop it so that it works automatically through its application, which is suitable for any smartphone camera.
