A State Department official in the Bahamas said that US actor Sidney Poitier has died at the age of 94.
Poitier broke the barriers of racism as the first black actor to win an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in “Lilies of the Field.”
Among his most important roles in his early artistic life was the movie “Guess Who’s Coming to Dinner”, and in the nineties he starred in a movie regarding the life of the African fighter Nelson Mandela. In 1999, he was ranked the 22nd greatest American movie actor of all time over 100 years.
