Today we are monitoring the Metropolitan Park 100% with thermal cameras from different parts of the city. We have also had the purchase of equipment for the brigadistas themselves “.
For her part, the executive director of Fundación Reforestemos, Suzanne Wylie, said at the press conference that “Also as citizens we have to take responsibility for the fact that 99.7% of forest fires are caused by human beings (…). Avoid bad practices, smoke in public spaces, make bonfires, waste and residues “.
While the sustainability manager of Compañía Manufacturera de Papeles y Cartones (CMPC), Nicolás Gordon, said that the brigade – which has eight people – has several functions, not only in firefighting, but also in “make aware” to citizens regarding the actions they can take to prevent the origin of the fires.
