Jaime Lorenzo, national coordinator of the NGO Doctors United for Venezuela, pointed out this Friday that until December 30 the percentage of vaccinated once morest covid-19 did not reach 60%.
In an interview for Union Radio, explained that this percentage was obtained by the organization through different channels, given that the official figures do not coincide with reality.
He pointed out that although there has been an increase in the number of people who have been vaccinated in this new year, the number of vaccinated is not more than 85%, as state spokesmen say.
«These citizens, many of whom have gone to the vaccination points in the pharmacy chains, they are just completing the second dose and, in several cases, just the first injection, “said Lorenzo.
The doctor called on the population to be immunized once morest covid-19. He recalled that at the time in the country it was possible to eradicate diseases such as measles, diphtheria and tuberculosis thanks to vaccines.
«In Venezuela, anti-vaccines are not structured like in other countries. Venezuela is a country where the genetics of being vaccinated are within, but if there are several people who do not want to be vaccinated, we will not get to immunization, “he said.
He indicated that the vaccination plan in Venezuela is only known by the State, unlike other countries where it is publicly known information.
“It must be remembered that when the vaccination for the health sector began in February, three weeks later they were vaccinating officials and although they have rights, that is when something political becomes and mistrust appears as a breeding ground for misinformation”, precise.
Lorenzo denounced the serious shortage of personal protection materials in public health centers and stressed that the virus is not attacked only with the vaccine, but also with biosafety mechanisms.
Until December 30, the death of 815 health workers was reported by covid: 570 doctors, 163 nurses, 18 dentists, 12 bio-specialists, 5 pharmacists, and 47 workers’ staff, he indicated.
