Igor and Grichka Bogdanoff were inseparable. They did everything together, called and saw each other every day and eventually ended up dying, within days of each other, from the same virus. If a lot of common points are to be counted between the twins, there is however an aspect of their life that everything opposed, their sentimental relationship.
While Igor Bogdanoff has been married twice and had six children with three different wives, Grichka made the choice for him to remain lonely throughout his life. A discomfort that has its source in the childhood of the twins, who suffered from the separation of their parents.
“Grichka confided in her fear of abandonment. The twins were brought up by our grandmother mainly and without their father who then came back. It pained me to hear that, I think. that we cannot explain their journey, their aspiration to singularity or to escape contingencies without this key. Concerning Grichka, this is undoubtedly what explains why he did not start a family or why he didn’t get married. He mightn’t stand the thought of being potentially abandoned, it’s a fear he never healed. His only way to be sure of a connection was through twinning.
