140 Aeroméxico employees contract COVID; airline operations are complicated

The Association of Aviation Flight Carriers (ASSA) of Mexico recalled that since Christmas Eve approximately 22 thousand flights have been canceled due to contagion of the Omicron variant of COVID-19 to crew and logistics personnel.

Mexico City, January 6 (However) .- The Trade Union Association of Aviation Flight attendants (ASSA) from Mexico reported on the contagion of COVID-19 of 140 employees of the airline Aeromexico.

In the statement, the Trade Union Association added that 65 employees are suspended due to lack of valid flight documents, that is, 10.38 percent of the labor enrollment, which influences the cancellation of flights and effects on operations.

ASSA recalled that since Christmas Eve approximately 22 thousand flights have been canceled due to contagions of the Ómicron variant of COVID-19 to crew and logistics personnel.

So far Aeroméxico has not issued any information in this regard.

Only in the last week of the year from December 23 to 31, 2021, more than 10,000 flights were canceled in the United States due to the shortage of personnel due to the contagion of coronavirus and the cold weather in the country.

Likewise, on January 1 alone, more than 2,400 flights were canceled in the United States and almost 4,200 worldwide, according to the FlightAware monitoring service.
