The National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research in Egypt said that a rocky asteroid will approach Earth next week.
The institute explained that this asteroid is larger than the Empire State Building in New York, and its last approach was 89 years ago, and the distance is currently very safe, with 1.1 million kilometers.
The institute confirmed that this close visit to Earth will allow astronomers to study more regarding the rocky asteroid, which is a type “S”, and belongs to the group of the most common Apollo asteroids.
The National Institute for Astronomical and Geophysical Research indicated that the space rock known as the asteroid 7482-1994PC-1 was first discovered in 1994 by astronomer Robert McNutt at the Siding Spring Observatory in Australia.
