The northeast monsoon strengthens, northern Taiwan gets colder and the temperature drops all the way to 13 degrees

The lowest temperature on Taiwan’s main island this morning was 13.4 degrees Celsius in Zhongliao, Nantou. Meteorological expert Wu Derong said that the northeast monsoon has strengthened, and today northern Taiwan gets colder as it gets late. The temperature drops all the way down to regarding 13 degrees. The cloud cover in the central and southern parts of the country has increased and turned slightly cooler. ; This wave of northeast monsoon is expected to weaken next Monday (10th). However, the next wave of cold air will strengthen from next Tuesday (11th), and the low temperature on flat ground will drop by 10 degrees.

According to observations by the Central Meteorological Bureau, as of 8 am today, the lowest temperature on the island’s flat land is 13.4 degrees Celsius in Zhongliao Township, Nantou County, followed by 14.3 degrees Celsius in Wufeng District of Taichung City and Yangmei District of Taoyuan City; and 15.4 degrees Celsius in Nangang District of Taipei City. The Bureau of Meteorology stated that today, affected by the northeast monsoon and the northward movement of the southern cloud system, there are more cloud cover in various places, and the overall temperature has dropped slightly. The weather in northern Taiwan will turn cooler, and other areas will also be cooler in the morning and evening; there is a short period in the northern and eastern half of the windward side. Rain, and occasionally there may be sporadic rainfall in the central and southern regions.

Wu Derong, Adjunct Associate Professor of the Department of Atmospheric Sciences, Central University, pointed out today in the column “Sanli Quasi Meteorology. The Boss Leaking Heaven” that the latest European model simulations show that the northeast monsoon will intensify and the middle cloud system will move in today and tomorrow, and there will be some parts in the northern and eastern half. Rain, and there were some short-term rainfalls in the central and southern regions. Northern Taiwan gets colder as it gets late today, and the central and southern parts of Taiwan also become cooler and slightly colder in the evening due to the increase in cloud cover. Temperatures in various regions: 18 to 13 degrees in the north, 14 to 24 degrees in the middle, 15 to 26 degrees in the south, and 14 to 24 degrees in the east.

Wu Derong said that the latest model simulation shows that on Saturdays and Sundays (August and 9th), the middle layer of clouds is far away and is still affected by the northeast monsoon. There will be occasional partial rains in the eastern half and the eastern side of Greater Taipei, and the western half will turn cloudy when it is sunny; On Monday (10th) the northeast monsoon weakened, the temperature rose, and the middle cloud system moved in from the South China Sea increased, bringing local short-term rainfall to various places.

Wu Derong also mentioned that the latest models in various countries simulate the presence of “strong cold air” going south from Tuesday to Thursday (11-13). The temperature drops to the lowest on the evening of the 11th and the early morning of the 12th, and the intensity of the “mainland cold air mass” has the highest chance. , The lowest temperature on the flat land will drop to regarding 10 or 11 degrees; the mode is still being adjusted and needs to be continuously observed and updated.
