On the sidelines of CES, the electronic high mass in Las Vegas, partnerships are being formed. Like that of the Franco-Italian-American automaker Stellantis and Amazon. The two groups want to combine their expertise to build the connected vehicles of the future.
The partnership between the parent company of fourteen automobile brands and the e-commerce and cloud giant will focus on software development, data storage and training.
Stellantis, born a year ago from the merger of Peugeot-Citroën and Fiat-Chrysler, will have to transfer all of its vehicle data to Amazon’s servers.
The automotive group might also design with Jeff Bezos’ company the software for its ” Smart cockpit “. It is a smart interior including, among other things, Amazon voice assistance, Alexa, GPS guidance, vehicle maintenance management, online shopping platforms and payment services.
Closing the gap with Tesla
This cooperation should help the American distributor to continue its ascent in the transport sector and the automotive group to reduce its gap with Tesla. By connecting all its vehicles, Stellantis expects to achieve 4 billion euros in turnover per year by 2026, once morest 400 million euros currently.
